OpenEuropa Library Talk #3: Europa Communities Platform Software as a Service

In the latest OpenEuropa Library Talks, we explored ECP SaaS, a powerful SaaS solution for creating and managing online communities. Built on Open Social Drupal, ECP SaaS offers robust features to enhance collaboration and engagement.

Alexandra Lepadatu is a dedicated Senior Business Analyst. Since 2015, she has led big projects. Co-founder of Society Revolution, Alexandra is passionate about personal growth and always eager to expand her knowledge and improve her skills. 

Lepadatu presented the main features and functionalities of ECP SaaS, a software as a service (SaaS) product built on Open Social Drupal, designed specifically for building community platforms. Lepadatu's presentation covered a wide range of functionalities, including:

  • Different types of groups
  • Roles and permissions
  • Notifications
  • Onboarding processes 
  • Antispam measures
  • File management
  • Photo albums
  • Courses
  • Task Management

By showcasing these features, Lepadatu demonstrated how ECP SaaS can enhance and streamline community website experiences, providing valuable tools for better engagement and interaction within the community.

Throughout her presentation, Lepadatu explained that ECP SaaS is a ready-to-use solution built on Open social (Drupal) designed to create and manage online communities, which can be public, private and hybrid. Contribution is the foundation of Open Source, and ECP SaaS encourages contribution through patches/merge requests, new modules, improving documentation and translations, and proposing presentations to DrupalCon.

Lepadatu also engaged participants in an interactive Q&A session, addressing various questions from participants, which allowed participants to gain deeper insights into the practical applications and potential of ECP SaaS. The discussion covered optimal group sizes for community management, theme variations and customisation options, the roadmap for future developments in ECP SaaS, integration capabilities with Moodle, and accessibility features to ensure inclusive use of the platform.
